Davis (Secretary Department of Environmental Resources), he gets calls every year regarding the maintenance of the White Oak Road in Jackson Township, the road is owned by the Department of Environmental Resources and requests that arrangements be made to service the road.
Letter, January 6, 1988, from Donald P. Oaks to Charles Aleksy (cc'd Jeffrey E. Piccola), states that the Bureau only provides winter maintenance services to the Bureau facilities. Letter, from Chester Hubler, Marian Hubler, and Florence Bonawitz to Jeffrey E. Piccola stating that no one is taking care of the roads. Letter, November 30, 1988, from Jeffrey E. Piccola to Florence Bonawitz, indicating the steps he has taken to find someone to take responsibility for the road, but the township & PennDOT were not willing to take on the responsibility. He indicated that there was nothing else he could do besides sit down with the township and state officials but both parties do not seem willing to discuss. Letter, June 30, 1988, from Rep. Piccola to Charles Aleksy, the best solution would be for Jackson Township to take over the road since the Department of Transpiration and the Department of Environmental Resources are unable to do so. Letter, November 17, 1987, from worker at PennDOT to Rep. Jeffery E. Piccola, the department cannot take over this road, roadways such as these ones are being returned to the municipalities. Oliver to Senator Jeffrey Piccola, asking him to oppose the passage of the bill regarding the White Oak Road transfer, because it would set a bad precedent to have the roads paved, installation of cement culverts, and liability for road damage caused by heavy equipment. Letter, April 29, 1998, from Charles Aleksy to Senator Jeffrey Piccola, saying that they are upset that John Oliver asked Senator Jeffrey Piccola to vote against the bill, he writes that the township cannot support a bill that just transfers ownership because the road is currently in very bad condition. He asks Senator Jeffrey Piccola to amend the amendment so that information about culverts, paved roads, etc. be deleted and instead information is put in regarding specifications for liquid fuel funding. Peter Zug to John Oliver, says thank you for scheduling a meeting, and an agreement regarding winter maintenance will be provided. Letter, February 22, 1999, from Senator Jeffrey Piccola to Secretary John Oliver, the assumption at the meeting was that the maintenance agreement was to be for the entire length of White Oak Road and not .047 miles as stated in the agreement. Memo, January 8, 1997, from Rep. Peter Zug to all members of the House, he plans to introduce legislation authorizing the Department of General Services to convey to Jackson Township a road right-of-way situate. Letter, February 13, 1997, from Charles Aleksy to Rep. Zug, stating that the Board of Supervisors of Jackson Township viewed the revised legislation and noted that the name Mucklerats Road should be changed to Detrich Road.
